Many hand procedures can be performed as outpatient surgery. The decision depends on the procedure, the clinical findings and your personal circumstances.

Numbness, tingling at night, loss of strength or persistent symptoms should be assessed carefully.

Recent wounds, deformities, severe pain or sensory disturbances should be assessed promptly by a doctor.

Previous findings, X-rays or MRI scans, nerve conduction studies and information about earlier treatments are helpful.
